Music
ELEMENTARY MUSIC PROGRAM (K – 6)
Students receive music instruction twice a week to include basic music literacy and appreciation skills. Flutophone instruction begins in 3rd grade and recorder lessons in 4th & 5th grades. In addition, students in grades 4-6 stage a musical presentation at Christmas time, and grades K-3 perform a musical in the spring. In addition, students in 6th grade are able participate in middle school chorus (see choral program below).
MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM (7th – 8th grades)
Students in 7th grade receive one semester of instruction in basic music theory, and students in 8th grade receive one semester of instruction in music appreciation, mostly focusing on musical theatre and music in the movies. In addition, students in 7th & 8th grades can participate in middle school chorus (see choral program below).
HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM
Students in 12th grade receive one semester of music history. In addition, students in 9th – 12th grades can participate in high school chorus (see choral program below).
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHORUS
Students in 6th – 8th grades have the option of participating in middle school chorus. The chorus rehearses once per week, and performs a Christmas concert and a spring-time concert. In addition, the middle school chorus participates in the ACSI-sponsored middle school fine arts festival, a judged event.
HIGH SCHOOL CHORUS
Students in 9th – 12th grades have the option of participating in high school chorus. The chorus rehearses twice per week, and performs a Christmas concert and a spring-time concert. In addition, the high school chorus participates in two formal events per year: the ACSI high school fine arts festival, and Music in the Parks.
